According to the seller’s post, the data for sale, priced at $1,500, includes sensitive citizen information such as resident IDs, Italian tax codes (Codice Fiscale – CF), full names, addresses, birthdates, and family codes. The offer includes not just the data but also the access to the database itself.

This claim, if true, represents a security incident of the highest severity for the Italian municipality. The alleged sale of live database access is a worst-case scenario, as it could provide a malicious actor with the “keys to the kingdom,” enabling them to steal more data, deploy ransomware, or disrupt local government services.
